Stunning St. Lucia

The Volcanic Island in the Sun

We know we don’t need to give you an excuse to visit the Caribbean, but how about this one: St. Lucia has officially reopened to US travelers, and if all goes well, the country will begin welcoming all international visitors from August 1st. So let’s start dreaming about this incredible island, shall we? Dive headfirst into the crystal blue water, snorkel your way through vivid coral reef sites, while admiring the volcanic, mountainous backdrop. Make the invigorating hike up the breathtaking volcanic spires of the Pitons, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Expect one of those, you have to see it to believe it, moments as you admire the staggering twin pinnacles. Zipline through the Chassin region’s lush green rainforest for the ultimate thrill. Or, if relaxing and wiggling your toes in the sand is more your speed, there is absolutely no shortage of impeccable beaches and luxury resorts to choose from. Round out the day, enjoying a fiery orange sunset at the extraordinary Jade Mountain resort restaurant. Go for the food, linger longer for the views.

Los Cabos, Mexico: It’s possible to spot whales year-round in the Sea of Cortés, but go December-April to spot grey whales, blue whales, humpback, and sperm whales.

Vancouver Island, Canada: Go May-October to spot orcas and grey whales

French Polynesia: Go July-November to spot humpback whales and their calves.

Azores, Portugal: Go April-June for the best chance to see sperm whales, humpbacks, sei whales, and more.

Dominican Republic: Sperm and humpback whales are visible throughout the year, but go January-March for your best chance of spotting them.

Iceland: Head to northern Iceland in May-September to see humpback, blue, minke, and sperm whales.

Would you go on a quietcation? One of this year’s biggest travel trends has us seeking out silence—like the kind you’ll find if you’re in Bali on March 19th for Nyepi. For 24 hours, the island goes quiet in celebration of the Hindu New Year, giving residents and guests space to cleanse negative energy, reflect, and welcome in new beginnings.

Sometimes, over-the-top trips look like five-star hotels and private jets. Other times, it looks more like this: taking in the stars while on a guided horseback trek across Mongolia’s wild steppes, deserts, and mountains with pelorusx. What’s more your speed?
