Lowcountry - Full-Time Travel

Lowcountry

Lazing in the Lowcountry

South Carolina’s Sunny Coast

What comes to mind when you think about the Lowcountry? Maybe it’s dreamy marshes, and pristine beaches stretching into the horizon or trees draped in storybook Spanish moss. All the mouthwatering BBQ and hush puppies, freshly shucked oysters and boiled peanuts. Charleston’s charming French Quarter, and perusing art galleries and boutiques down King Street. We’re dreaming of walking above the ocean on wooden piers, and island hopping from Isle of Palms to Sullivan’s Island to Folly Beach and Kiawah. There must be something in the air, mixed with that sweet, sweet Southern hospitality, that makes us fall a little more in love with the South, every time we visit. Ready to slow down and experience all that the Lowcountry has to offer? Us too, us too...

We’ve said it once, and we’ll say it again: biking is one of the best ways to explore destinations both new and familiar. 🚴🏽‍♀️ And viceroyhotels seems to agree. The hotel group has just launched a selection of curated routes out of its hotels in Santa Monica, Chicago, Washington D.C., and the Algarve, Portugal, with cycling brand Rapha. Designed for serious bikers and leisurely riders alike, each guided route is designed to get lost in the hidden corners of each destination and connect with local communities in a way you can’t on four wheels.

You’ve heard of Michelin Stars, but what about Michelin Keys? Earlier this month, Michelin awarded its second-ever group of Keys to outstanding hotels and resorts in over 100 countries across every continent (save Antarctica). Included on the list with a top three-Key designation is South Africa’s stunning royalmalewane — which debuted the new Masiya’s Camp, pictured here, earlier this year.

Check the link in our bio for the full list of newly keyed properties…and while you’re there, sign up for our newsletter: more bucket-list worthy hotel recommendations are coming your way later this week.

Calling all audiophiles. 🎧 Checking into the new Darsena Listening Suite at ilsereno in Lake Como needs to be on your bucket list. It’s outfitted with heritage-grade analog equipment, including horn speakers, tube amps, a turntable, a vintage reel-to-reel deck, and a vinyl library 500+ records deep—oh, and stunning views of the lake from an oversized private terrace, of course.
