Itty-Bitty Beautiful Bermuda

Itty-Bitty Beautiful Bermuda

A pastel-colored paradise

Mix sophisticated British elegance with laid back island life and you have the one and only, charming island of Bermuda. If you’re lucky enough to live on the East coast of America, you’re less than two hours from this tiny (21 miles long and less than 2 miles wide) but filled-with-personality and dripping-with-beauty, island in the sun. From pastel-colored homes to white roofs, good-natured locals, and pink hotels, you just might consider canceling your return flight home.

We recommend spending time in Hamilton, the cultural center and capital city of the island. Explore the Royal Naval Dockyard and learn about Bermuda’s rich maritime history. The lively port is also home to many artists, shops, and dining. Head to Kings Square, in the heart of St. George, for various other historical attractions, colonial buildings, and annual events and ceremonies such as 17th-century reenactments.

All of the water activities deserve an honorable mention, of course. Snorkel and scuba dive local reefs and shipwreck sites. Explore rocky coves and sparkling pink sand. Float in the warm water, or if you’re trying to get your adrenaline pumping, try windsurfing at Shelly Bay Beach or kiteboarding at Elbow Beach. If you enjoy sailing, then you’ve come to the right place – Bermuda is one of the top sailing locations in the world. Or, if simply watching a sailing race is more your style, kick back and enjoy the incredible energy that the competitions bring to the island. So, cheers a Dark n’ Stormy to blue skies ahead.

Would you go on a quietcation? One of this year’s biggest travel trends has us seeking out silence—like the kind you’ll find if you’re in Bali on March 19th for Nyepi. For 24 hours, the island goes quiet in celebration of the Hindu New Year, giving residents and guests space to cleanse negative energy, reflect, and welcome in new beginnings.

Sometimes, over-the-top trips look like five-star hotels and private jets. Other times, it looks more like this: taking in the stars while on a guided horseback trek across Mongolia’s wild steppes, deserts, and mountains with pelorusx. What’s more your speed?
