InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, Vietnam - Full-Time Travel

InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort

Vietnam
In a Nutshell:

Arguably Intercontinental Hotel Group’s most luxurious resort in the world, the Intercontinental Sun Peninsula is nestled in a private bay, amid the hills of the Son Tra Peninsula – also known as the Mythical Monkey Mountain. The resort’s landscape of lush gardens, pristine beach and gorgeous ocean/jungle views are spectacular.

EDITOR'S TIP: Close your terrace doors and do not leave food out in your room unless you’d like some monkey guests. If you're lucky you'll spot the Red Shanked Douc, which many consider the world’s most beautiful primate.

The Style: The Sun Peninsula was built by Bangkok-based architect Bill Bensley, whose design philosophy was “the more odd, the better.”  The property’s black lacquered wood and white tiles reflect the grandeur of Vietnamese temples.

Perfect For:
beach getaway Family Friendly Romantic Break Spa & Wellness
Sun Peninsual Residence Villa - Private Pool
Why We Love It:
  • Breakfast at Citron, which is high on the hill with views of the mountain and bay from unique booths shaped like traditional Non La Hats
  • The Long Bar, with its beach day beds overlooking the beach and ocean
  • The Tram, which takes you slowly from the beach to the highest point of the resort with magnificent views
  • The ancient City of Hoi An is roughly 20 miles from the resort
  • It’s the only resort to have its own exclusive airport lounge at Danang Airport
Sun Peninsula Residence Villa - bathroom

Turns out, you don’t have to be an adrenaline junkie (or even an expert skier!) to put heli-skiing on your bucket list. 🚁⛷️ elevenexperience’s two lodges in the French Alps are making the magic of heli-skiing accessible for all levels — full story is in our bio.

Some of our favorite historic properties—including the delcoronado in San Diego—are said to be haunted by the ghosts of guests past. In the case of the Del, the spirit of Kate Morgan, who checked into the iconic resort in 1892, is believed to have never left. (Though with some of the best beachfront access anywhere in California, we can’t say we blame her for wanting to stay at the property forever.) Tell us, would you stay at a haunted hotel?

We’ve said it once, and we’ll say it again: biking is one of the best ways to explore destinations both new and familiar. 🚴🏽‍♀️ And viceroyhotels seems to agree. The hotel group has just launched a selection of curated routes out of its hotels in Santa Monica, Chicago, Washington D.C., and the Algarve, Portugal, with cycling brand Rapha. Designed for serious bikers and leisurely riders alike, each guided route is designed to get lost in the hidden corners of each destination and connect with local communities in a way you can’t on four wheels.

You’ve heard of Michelin Stars, but what about Michelin Keys? Earlier this month, Michelin awarded its second-ever group of Keys to outstanding hotels and resorts in over 100 countries across every continent (save Antarctica). Included on the list with a top three-Key designation is South Africa’s stunning royalmalewane — which debuted the new Masiya’s Camp, pictured here, earlier this year.

Check the link in our bio for the full list of newly keyed properties…and while you’re there, sign up for our newsletter: more bucket-list worthy hotel recommendations are coming your way later this week.
