Salta, Argentina - Full-Time Travel

Salta, Argentina

Salta, Argentina

From Red-Rock Andes Mountains to sprawling vineyards.

From jungles, to volcanos, to some of the most picturesque vineyards you’ve ever laid eyes on, this charming town in Argentina’s northern province has recently emerged as a tourist hotspot thanks to its spectacular setting and vast array of things to do (and day trips to take). And let’s not dismiss that Salta is renowned for cooking up some of the best empanadas around.

Did You Know?

The oldest dinosaur fossils were found in parts of  Argentina (and Brazil). In addition, Argentina holds the world's third largest source of freshwater from the Perito Moreno Glacier, which continues to grow!

Cerro San Bernardo

The views atop this hill are nothing short of breathtaking. Hike up to the top to be rewarded by the scenery, small park with waterfalls, kitschy souvenir shops and restaurant. Or for those who don’t feel like working up a sweat, you can hop in the cable car that will take you straight to the top, sans the steps.

Day Trip to Cafayate

It seems like a total shame to go all the way to Argentina without spending some QT at one of the land’s great vineyards. The wine-centric town of Cafayate is a beautiful drive from Salta, and well worth an afternoon there. There’s also a wine museum and one vineyard after the next that you can walk or bike to.

Stay

Indulge

La Vieja Estación

For a dining experience with a kick, head to La Vieja where twinkling lanterns sway from the ceiling and the Andean fusion fare doesn’t disappoint. Neither does the music, which is a big part of the dining experience (it starts nightly at 10 p.m.).

Ma Cuisine Resto

If you’ve had your fill of empanadas and red meat after a few days, head to the stylish restaurant Ma Cuisine, where you’ll fill up on local ingredients with a touch of French cuisine.

Love to drive? A road trip through central Norway should definitely be on your bucket list. 🇳🇴 One of the best ways to pull it off is through 62nord: The company’s Drive the Fjords signature adventure will put you behind the wheel of an electric Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo on the legendary Atlantic Ocean Road (pictured here) and the winding Trollstigen as you head from Ålesund to the Øye Valley.

Would you go on a quietcation? One of this year’s biggest travel trends has us seeking out silence—like the kind you’ll find if you’re in Bali on March 19th for Nyepi. For 24 hours, the island goes quiet in celebration of the Hindu New Year, giving residents and guests space to cleanse negative energy, reflect, and welcome in new beginnings.

Sometimes, over-the-top trips look like five-star hotels and private jets. Other times, it looks more like this: taking in the stars while on a guided horseback trek across Mongolia’s wild steppes, deserts, and mountains with pelorusx. What’s more your speed?
